  • Okay full disclosure, I know there is another very popular oyster place in town, but honestly I love this place so much I just can't miss the opportunity to eat there and try it.

The food is delicious and always fresh. I love fresh oysters but once was offered a chance to taste their fried ones... I'm hooked. Using what I can only imagine is totally fresh oysters to fry, they are delicate, flavorful and a regular favorite.

When its warm enough we love sitting outside in what can only be described as an alley way between their two buildings, but there is something fresh and romantic about it.

    I highly recommend!

  • I get the royal treatment every time I come here! The food is amazing. I'm most impressed by how accommodating the staff is to my menu adjustments.
Usually at seafood restaurants, there are gluten free options or vegetarian options, but not in the same dish. Here there are several options and they're all compelling!
Gluten free pizzas, gluten free pastas, polenta...

My wife is SUPER PICKY and she was worried she wouldn't be able to eat well here. She was stoked on the gluten free pizza, but when we heard they were out of GF crust, she was crushed. The staff was brilliant, listened to what else she might want and created the perfect soul-food dish for her: GF Alfredo pasta with her favorite vegetables. She LOVED it.

I'm over the moon impressed they took such good care of her. Plus, my food was incredible.

  • We have lunch or dinner at this place when we visit Carmel, 2 to 3 times a year. Service is always great, our server was helpful and friendly, great value for your $$.

Wife had mixed seafood linguine pescatore, she loved it! My 11 year old daughter loved the mussels, I had the crab omelette,
Calamari for appetizer, Hot and Fresh.

Lots of seafood selection on the menu.

  • Very, very friendly service with superb seafood and a great selection of seafood dishes. Visited twice during my week-long vacation and had their seafood paella one night and linguini pescatore the next which was very tasty and fresh! Love the ambiance and our waitress was extremely helpful! The olalaberry pie was heavenly (and I already miss it!).

Flaherty's will be one of my to-go restaurant when in town!

  • My family and I have been eating at Flaherty's for more than 30 years due to our love affair with the Manhattan chowder. On this particular occasion I recently had lunch with a friend who encouraged me to venture a bit deeper into the menu; what a revelation! We began with a half dozen oysters which arrived well chilled and perfectly opened (you know, with plenty of juice still in the shell) they were served with fresh lemon, a well prepared mignonette and the all American favorite: Cocktail sauce and horseradish.

Our genuinely cheerful server, Kayla, was very well informed about the dishes as well as wines to pair with our order. We ordered a glass of 2013 Davis Bynum Sauvignon blanc and a glass of Sylvestry 2014 Pinot noir. Kayla graciously split the pours so we each had 1/2 a glass to enjoy with the various dishes we'd ordered to share.

Our next dish was the crab cakes, a signature dish made in house using corn bread instead of ordinary bread crumbs. We pretty much liked everything about this dish. The slaw and roasted red pepper sauce are perfect compliments to each crispy, crab packed bite. This is a dish I'll definitely order again.

We moved onto the mussels served in a rich tomato based sauce with leeks and shallots served with half a lemon as garnish that we squeezed all over the the mussels and wow! This dish was great, particularly paired with the Pinot Noir.

We ordered dessert - which I had never done in all the years of eating at Flaherty's (they make all their desserts in house!) - I had the Chocolate Creme Brulee and it was really, really good. More like a Chocolate mousse in texture with that crispy sugar topping another "don't miss" on the menu. Sometimes I like coffee with my dessert, today was one of those days... they were brewing a new pot so the timing wasn't perfect but I'll tell you it was totally worth the wait. Great rich coffee, a perfect end to a truly delicious meal.
